Sophie Pohlabel, MA, LPCC (she/her/hers)

I believe healing happens when we feel safe enough to reconnect with ourselves. My goal is to create a warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to move toward lasting change. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, or life transitions, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, we’ll work together to better understand your experiences while building practical tools that help you feel more grounded, connected, and confident in your everyday life.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC), I bring a unique perspective through my background as both a therapist and personal trainer. Before becoming a counselor, I spent several years helping individuals improve their physical health through strength training and movement. I also played collegiate soccer, where I experienced first-hand the connection between mental resilience, physical well-being, and performance. These experiences shaped my passion for understanding the relationship between the mind, body, and nervous system, and they continue to influence the way I approach therapy today.

I work from a person-centered, emotion-focused, and trauma-informed lens, believing that every individual already possesses strengths and resilience that can be rediscovered throughout the healing process. I enjoy integrating both top-down and bottom-up approaches, meeting you where you are rather than expecting you to fit into one style of therapy. Depending on your goals, our work may include exploring thoughts and beliefs, processing emotions, identifying and understanding different “parts” of yourself that have developed to protect you, increasing body awareness, practicing mindfulness, and learning nervous system regulation skills. My goal is to help you expand your window of tolerance so you can feel more present, regulated, and at home in your own body.

I have experience working with adolescents through older adults, supporting clients experiencing anxiety, complex trauma (CPTSD), depression, life transitions, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, and other trauma-related experiences. I have a particular passion for working with individuals who have experienced developmental or relational trauma and helping them build a greater sense of safety, self-compassion, and resilience.

I strive to provide an affirming and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome. I proudly support individuals of all identities, including members of the LGBTQ+ community, and I am committed to providing culturally responsive care where you can show up as your authentic self without fear of judgment.

As a lifelong learner, I am passionate about continuing to grow as a clinician. I look forward to pursuing advanced training in EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and other evidence-based trauma therapies to continue expanding the ways I can support clients in their healing. My hope is to continue integrating approaches that honor both the mind and the body, recognizing that meaningful healing often happens when we address both.
